Brushes and Blades
Vic Firth offers a variety of "brushes" designed to deliver a traditional sound or create bold new colors. Each model makes its own musical statement and provides the opportunity for an extensive range of effects.
Jazz Brush (WB)
A retractable wire brush with an infinitely adjustable brush spread capable of maintaining any playing position. A 6" spread and extra heavy gauge wire provide maximum coverage and sound. The oversized triangular metal pull rod doubles as an excellent beater for cymbal work.
Heritage Brush (HB)
This retractable wire brush features a smooth rubber handle and our special triangular metal pull rod for versatility on the cymbals. Light and fast. 5" spread.
Jazz Rake (BJR)
A retractable plastic brush that features thin, flexible bristles for fusion and jazz.
Rock Rake (BRR)
A retractable plastic brush with stiff, thick bristles for greater projection.
Steve Gadd (SGWB)
Steve and Vic have solved the age-old problem of wire brushes snagging on new coated drumheads by slightly angling the wires in the top 3/4” of the playing end. The wires glide across the head, allowing a smoother sweep and a velvet swish sound.
Dreadlocks (DLKS)
Braided heavy gauge stainless-steel wires produce bold percussive sound. Strike, scrape or let your imagination create a variety of effects. With hickory handles.
L=14", Dia.=.575", Spread = 5 1/2"
Blades
A unique high-density copolymer plastic implement shaped like a blade of a fan. Designed for a variety of striking techniques and a full range of dynamic expression. Use the entire surface for a fat sound on drums, or just the edge for a clean and crisp sound on drums or cymbals. Great on all percussion membranes!
Rute
Vic Firth offers a complete line of Rute, designed to provide the player with alternative sounds and feels across a variety of musical settings. Unless indicated below, each Rute model features premium birch dowels secured in a birch drumstick handle. The handle provides a natural feel and can also be used for back beats, cross rim work and intricate patterns on the cymbal bell. A moveable band adjusts the effect from crisp to splashy.
